A senior official of the British government was visiting Cambodia from March 2nd to 4th

British Foreign Minister in charge of Indo-Pacific, her excellency Rt Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan paid an official visit to Cambodia with the aim to strengthen cooperation in trade, economic development and education between Cambodia and the United Kingdom.

During her visit, her excellency Rt Hon. Anne-Marie Trevelyan met with Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E Aun Porn Moniroth to discuss the United Kingdom's support for sustainable development in Cambodia, including green infrastructure.

Trade and investment between the UK and Cambodia continue to develop.

Cambodia is also a priority country for the UK Investment Partnership Program, which promotes private sector investment in high-quality sustainable infrastructure projects to support development.

In a statement before the visit, the British senior official said that Cambodia has had a remarkable ancient history and has recently overcome difficulties to become one of the fastest growing economies in the world and in ASEAN.

The British Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E Dominic Williams MBE, also confirmed that the visit of the British Foreign Minister in charge of the Indo-Pacific to Cambodia has been the first visit by a British senior official since the government of Prime Minister Hun Manet took office in August last year.

He added that the visit was a demonstration of the UK's desire to strengthen cooperation with Cambodia. The United Kingdom is committed to supporting economic growth that creates jobs in Cambodia through sustainable investment, development and trade initiatives. The visit presented an opportunity for open discussions on key national and international issues, stressed the Ambassador.
