A senior official of the royal government of Cambodia says that fake news has posed a major challenge and threat to security, stability, public order and development

H.E Vongsey Visoth, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, told the National Workshop on Counterfeiting Information in the Age of AI and Cyber Security held on Wednesday March 13 about the problems caused by fake news in several countries around the world

H.E Vongsey Visoth said that this required all ministries, institutions and the general public to be proactive and well aware of the benefits, dangers and risks caused by technology and especially its consequences on the security and development of the country. 

The permanent Prime Minister encouraged working groups and officials in charge of information and public opinion from all ministries, institutions and relevant departments in the capitals and provinces to strengthen cooperation and to carry out their duties in a proactive manner in the face of challenges and problems stemming from technology development.

The Deputy Prime Minister warned that in the age of advanced technology, information and data could be both true and false and both good and bad.

The National Workshop on Counterfeiting Information in the Age of AI and Cyber Security was organized at the Office of the Council of Ministers on March 13, 2024 by the National Information and Public Coordination Committee and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, with the participation of senior officials, spokespersons and many stakeholders, with a total of more than 350 participants.
