Samdech Kittisangha Bandith Men Sam An, Personal Adviser to the King, appealed to all artists and designers to carefully take into consideration the market demand for the original form of Khmer clothing, especially for the traditional Khmer fashions.
Samdech Men Sam An presided over the "Khmer Skirt Gala Night" organized by the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts at the Chaktomuk Conference Hall in Phnom Penh on March 2, 2024.
Samdech Men Sam An also expressed her appreciation for the activities, which not only reflect the efforts to preserve the traditional Khmer clothing, the great heritage of the Khmer ancestors, but also the attention to highly promoting and encouraging the cultivation of Khmer skirts in Khmer society so as to get the public to know and to decide to use more Khmer traditional costumes to contribute to the strengthening of national identity.
Samdech Man Sam An continued to say that culture confirmed the roots of ancient civilization, so the maintenance and development and promotion of this unique cultural heritage has been the duty of every Cambodian young generations to understand clearly the history, value, heritage, meaning of clothing to participate in national and international promotion. Samdech Men Sam Analso proposed the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts to increase the promotion of Cambodian culture and traditions with the organization of more programs.
All artists and designers should carefully examine the new innovations, not to deviate from the original style of clothing, do not overstate the market demand, which may affect the original form of the nation’s clothes, added Samdech Men Sam An.
