Addressing a press conference on Monday, March 31st, His Excellency Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, said that as executive body of the Royal Government, the Ministry of Information has had to strengthen information safety for citizens.

The Information Minister further said that fake news has caused citizens lose trust in the professional and responsible media.

The Information Minister stressed that fake news was not generalized to all sectors, but focused on key sectors related to peace, national security, public order, the leadership of the Royal Government.

He also said that people could identify if the news story was fake or not when they were able to check the source of the information, the date, the identity of the institution or account that disseminated the information, and whether other professional media outlets have published it.
