Cambodia and Asia-Pacific countries share knowledge and jointly address climate change challenges

The Royal Government of Cambodia, in collaboration with the Climate Investment Fund and the Asian Development Bank, on April 1st ,organized the "Asia-Pacific Knowledge Exchange Program" to share knowledge, experiences, lessons and ideas to address the challenges of climate change in the Asia-Pacific region. 

H.E Aun Porn Moniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, said that climate change is a global issue that requires all to take action responsibly and with high commitment to reduce vulnerabilities by building resilience and better adaptation.

He added that climate change is not only causing global warming, but also causing natural disasters more frequent and worsening. Asia countries which accounts for about 60% of the world's population, is among the most vulnerable to climate change.

In 2022, in the Asia-Pacific region, natural disasters destroyed the homes of more than 50 million people and caused economic losses of up to US$ 80 billion. 

The Climate Investment Fund has been supporting climate change resilience with a total funding of approximately US $ 11.5 billion and has the potential to attract an additional $ 63 billion in co-financing to promote Development aims to effectively address climate change in the Asia-Pacific region, stressed the Deputy Prime Minister.
