Cambodia and Laos vow to further strengthen and deepen cooperation

The leaders of Cambodia and Laos pledged to further strengthen and deepen relations and cooperation. The commitment was made during a bilateral meeting between the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Laos, in Vientiane on Monday March 25, 2024.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister of Cambodia said that his official visit to Laos would help deepen the friendship and cooperation on the basis of comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership. The Cambodian leader thanked the Lao government for the warm welcome and hospitality given to the high-ranking delegation of Cambodia.

H.E Sonexay Siphandone stressed that the official visit of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet would make the cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries more prosperous and stronger.

The two leaders expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the results of bilateral cooperation in all fields and at all levels. 

They exchanged views on strengthening and expanding cooperation in many areas, including: politics, national defense, security, economy, trade and investment, education, tourism, energy connectivity, transportation, and border affairs. The two counterparts discussed the importance of holding the 15th meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, the re-establishment of the Joint Trade Committee with the Business and Investment Forum, and the expansion of economic integration through trade exchanges such as financial services, land transport and tourism.  

Cambodia and Laos will boost direct flights between Cambodia and Laos to contribute to the growth of tourism and trade expansion.

Both sides also discussed promoting people-to-people connectivity, exchanges of visits and cooperation on combating transnational crimes such as human trafficking and drugs.
