Cambodia asks JICA to strengthen farmers' capacity to use advanced agricultural techniques

H.E Veng Sakhon, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, requested the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to help train and strengthen farmers on the use of modern agricultural techniques, according to H.E. Veng Sakhon's Facebook page.

The request was made when H.E Veng Sakhon Inaugurated the Warehouse and Rice Seed Filling Machine in Ba Phnom Meanchey Agricultural Community, Ba Phnom District, Prey Veng Province on October 16, 2021. 

He also urged the farming community to seek more private companies and stakeholders to help connect the farming community with private companies and stakeholders through contract farming mechanisms to bring about Win-win situation for both the farming community and the company.

The Agriculture Minister hoped that the government, as well as the people of Japan, with JICA as well as other organizations, including the private sector, would continue this noble tradition to contribute to job creation, reduction of migration and development, Increase rural incomes and ensure food security for the general population, improve nutrition, increase agricultural exports to improve the livelihoods of farmers, reduce the gap between urban and rural areas, especially the development of environmentally friendly agriculture and innovation.
