Cambodia, EU sign US$79 million grant agreement and launch four programs

On March 12, 2024, H.E Aun Porn Moniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and Her excellency Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner of the European Commission for International Partnerships, signed a grant agreement and announced its implementation four programs focused on promoting sustainable value chains, energy efficiency and renewable energy, with the participation of senior representatives of the Royal Government, Ambassadors of the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Sweden and many stakeholders.

EU Commissioner for International Partnership, her excellency Jutta Urpilainen, said her visit was an opportunity for the EU and Cambodia to document the long-term cooperation between the two sides to further strengthen and expand cooperation between Cambodia and the European Union through the signing and declaration of implementation of four new programs in key areas that will contribute to supporting sustainable economic development and job creation in Cambodia.

She added that the EU is highly committed to its partnership with Cambodia to promote green and digital change and support Cambodia in leaving the status of a least developed country in the future. 

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the European Union and Her excellency Jutta Urpilainen for their continued support and assistance to Cambodia's socio-economic development. 

The Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to promote and strengthen a close partnership with the EU in various priority areas in the future.
