Cambodia, Japan vow to continue working closely in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks to maintain peace and security

Cambodia and Japan are committed to continuing to work closely in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks to maintain peace, security and prosperity in the region and the world in the common interest.

The commitment was made during a meeting between H.E Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and H.E KOMURA Masahiro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on February 13th 2024 at the Ministry’s office.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his deep thanks for Japan's contribution to the peace process in Cambodia and highly appreciated Japan's development assistance in all areas in its efforts to contribute to the reconstruction of Cambodia after decades of devastation of civil war is an indispensable contribution to the promotion of socio-economic development.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern and interest, and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks aim to maintain peace, security and prosperity in the region and the world.

Both sides signed an exchange of letters and related documents on granting US$154 million in concessional loans for local hospital development projects.
