Cambodia,Vietnam and Laos continue to boost cooperation and mutual coordination in the fight against all forms of crimes to ensure security and social order. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior, on March 29, 2024, H.E Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia, Lt. Gen. Tolem, a member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Police of Vietnam and General Vilay La Kham Phuong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos, co-chaired a ministerial meeting on enhancing cooperation between the three ministries in the fight against all crimes. The three Ministers exchanged views on the general situation of the world and the region, and shared experiences through intervention. The meeting also adopted a joint declaration outlining its commitment to carrying out a number of important tasks. The Ministers of Interior of Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos agreed on four elements of activities. First the three countries provide cooperation and mutual coordination in the fight against all forms of crimes to ensure security and social order, serve the mutual benefit of development and prosperity and to maintain security and harmony for the ASEAN region as well. S Secondly, they continue to strengthen and promote cooperation in the prevention and suppression of all kinds of transnational crimes, especially illegal drugs, human trafficking, illegal immigration, terrorism and technological crimes, and in the exchange of information.  The third point of the activities is encouraging the authorities of the border provinces of the three countries to continue to cooperate closely in maintaining security, order, stability and security in the border areas, especially to educate the people to understand the regulations related to the border and to join efforts to turn the border area into a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development in contribution to improving the living standards of the people in the border provinces and to increasing trade and tourism between the three countries. The fourth measure is supporting each other in regional and international forums, especially on the occasion of Laos' chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024, and continuing to promote the implementation of cooperation in relevant fields between the three parties within the ASEAN framework.
