H.E Vongsey Visoth considers the promotion of women and girls in the digital revolution as essential for promoting social and economic development

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers said that the promotion of the role of women and girls in the digital revolution has been very necessary and important to accelerate the socio-economic development.

His Excellency Vongsey Visoth extoled the role of women at a meeting held in Phnom Penh on Tuesday March 12 to mark the 113th anniversary of the International Women's Day under the theme "Women and girls in the digital revolution". The permanent deputy Prime Minister stressed that when women and girls have had digital knowledge and skills, they would be able to actively and safely participate in building of digital economy and society. He further said that the digital revolution provided new ways for women and girls to exercise their rights, advance their status, opportunities and options in life and improve their socio-economic status. The permanent deputy Prime Minister pointed out that better-informed and knowledgeable women and girls would find it easy to access broader opportunities for education, professional development, careers, jobs and businesses. H.E Vongsey Visoth said that in order to contribute to the Royal Government’s efforts in promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls, the office of the Council of Ministers has launched a strategic plan for gender mainstreaming 2021-2025, considering it as an important framework and as a tool to promote gender equality in program structures and action plans. In addition to promote women's participation in the field of technology, the Royal Government of the 7th legislature has been implementing measures to establish programs to support the participation of women in the digital sector in all forms and by all means as defined in  Cambodia's Digital Economy and Society Policy 2021-2035, stressed the permanent deputy Prime Minister, adding that the government has carried out activities to promote digital leadership training, especially for women in ministries and institutions, in order to reduce the gender gap related to digital skills as defined in government Digital policy 2022-2035.
