All of the senior officials and civil servants of the Ministry of Information will undergo drug tests this week

All of the senior officials and civil servants of the Ministry of Information will undergo drug tests on Tuesday May 7, 2024.

His Excellency Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, spoke of the measure when he discussed the issue of the fight against drugs with relevant officials of the Ministry on Saturday May 4 2024 at the Ministry.
Minister Neth Pheaktra stated that the drug test work in the ranks of civil servants of the Ministry of Information followed the order of the Head of the Royal Government. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on February 20, 2024 introduced strict measures to combat illegal drugs among civil servants of all the ministries, institutions and sub-national administrations.

According to the report provided by the National Authority for Combating Drugs, as of April 29, 2024, a number of ministries, institutions and sub-national administrations have already had their officials and members of the armed forces and police tested for drugs and as a result 76 drug addicts were detected and have been removed from their jobs.

The National Authority for Combating drugs has also set out a number of measures to continue to effectively implement regulation by mobilizing assistance to obtain additional testing equipment. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health has established a working group for carrying out retests in case of complaints from officials about the test results. It said that officials with positive drug result have been undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
