On Monday, March 17, 2025, the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China and UNICEF, announced the launch of the Cambodia Climate Resilient Water and Sanitation Project.

The initiative is a joint commitment to ensuring that the most vulnerable communities have access to safe and climate-resilient water and sanitation services, reducing the threats posed by climate change.

H.E Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, said, Cambodia has made significant progress in expanding access to water and sanitation services, towards achieving Cambodia’s Sustainable Development Goals (CSDG) 6.1 and 6.2.

This goal sets out that all must ensure that safe and affordable drinking water and sanitation services are available to all by 2030, with priority given to women, girls and vulnerable populations, the minister continued.

With this cooperation program, three Cambodian Ministries – the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport – are the project implementing entities, with technical and financial support from the Ministry of Water Resources of the People’s Republic of China and UNICEF China.
