The French Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia said that he would work toward negotiating tariff preferences for Cambodian goods to the French market.

H.E Jacques Pellet, French Ambassador to Cambodia, made the point at a press conference held in Phnom Penh on Monday May 5 on “Cambodia-France Diplomatic Relations and Development in Cambodia”.

The French Ambassador said that as France has been a member of the European Union and Cambodia has been a partner of the European Union, France would work hard to negotiate tariff preferences for Cambodian goods to the French market, while Europe has been open to Cambodia in importing all kinds of goods, except for weapons.

The French Ambassador stressed that the trade exchange between the two countries, Cambodia and France, has been about 1.5 billion euros, of which 90% was exports from Cambodia to France.

The ambassador further said that France was the first country in Europe to import Cambodian rice and textile products.
