The Senior Minister and First Deputy Chairman of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority said that for the Kingdom of Cambodia, peace has been not just the absence of conflict, but also an important foundation for building the future.
Senior Minister Ly Thuch made the point at a ceremony held by the Russian Embassy in Phnom Penh on Wednesday May 7 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II on May 7, 2025.
H.E Ly Thuch cited the speech of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate as saying that without peace, no onecould not talk about human rights, democracy, or development.
The Senior Minister Ly Thuch expressed his congratulations to the government and people of the Russian Federation for the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II, which not only marked the end of hostilities, but also renewed hope for humanity and demonstrated the sacrifices, dedication, and common struggle in the pursuit of peace and stability for the whole world.
The Senior Minister went on to say that Cambodia clearly understood the importance of peace and the bitterness of war.
H.E Anatoly Borovik, Russian Ambassador to Cambodia, was also present at the ceremony.
