The Cambodian Senate President advises the government to consider stopping Thai films and possibly stop importing goods into Cambodia

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that starting from the midnight of June 12, 2025, all fiber optic network companies or internet operators in Cambodia will stop buying internet bandwidth from Thailand as Cambodia has the ability to provide sufficient internet services on its own.

On his official social post on the night of June 12, 2025, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that there has recently been a lot of information being shared on social media in Thailand regarding threats by some extremist groups in Thailand to cut off electricity and internet supplies to Cambodia.

The Prime Minister stressed that in order not to delay or make it difficult for the Thai side to decide whether or when to make it, Cambodia has decided to ensure its own electricity and internet supplies.

H.E Chea Vandet, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, reported to the Prime Minister that “starting from the midnight of June 12, 2025, all fiber optic network companies or internet operators in Cambodia will stop buying internet bandwidth from Thailand.

Meanwhile, H.E Keo Ratanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, has already confirmed Cambodia’s ability to supply electricity for local consumption.
