In 2050, Cambodia will face a huge shortage of young human resources

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia stated that in 2050, Cambodia wouldface a huge shortage of young human resources after the gap between the old and the young ages contemned to widen.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the “2023 Work Results and 2024 Work direction “annual conference of the Ministry of Planning” on Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024,  Samdach Thipadei Hun Manet mentioned that the decrease in the percentage of young and old people was also an issue after Cambodian young population find jobs in  many countries, especially in Asia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that although the forecast based on the census data, Cambodia has looked at ways of narrowing the gap between the elderly and the young.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister urged economically-affordable people and newlyweds to have more children to avoid the risk of future shortages.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that having children now was easier than in 2050 because the cost of raising children would be different from today and   the mindset of the people might change.

By 2050, the Ministry of Planning must intensify the professional development of young people in response to the national development plan to avoid labor shortages, stressed the Prime Minister.
