Minister of Industry: Intellectual property protection registration system is an important foundation and gives investors strong confidence in developing new products to compete in the market

H.E Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, said that the intellectual property protection registration system is an important foundation and provides strong warmth and confidence to investors, especially small and medium enterprises, researchers and Technicians who use their own intellect and talent to innovate to create new products to compete in local, regional and international markets, avoid counterfeiting of products that are already registered to protect intellectual property.

H.E Hem Vandy made this statement at the National Workshop on Capacity Building on the Use of Online Services and the Launching Ceremony of Industrial Patents and Industrial Drawing Data on the Website of the Department of Industrial Property on April 29, 2024 at the Hotel Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokitra.

He said that intellectual property is a pillar that supports and promotes the growth of other sectors by providing incentives and innovations arising from the protection of legal rights over intellectual property and promote the commercialization of both the tangible assets of the private sector.

Due to the protection of intellectual property, the private sector has dared to spend resources on researching the development of new products, the development of modern technologies and innovations that bring technology transfer to the global market. The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation has promoted and disseminated awareness of intellectual property to the public in order to build a prosperous Cambodian society in the field of technology.

He said that in the context of economic globalization and participation in the ASEAN Economic Community today, the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia has made efforts to develop all areas, including intellectual property, which is an important part for promoting trade, innovation and creating new industrial production, promoting domestic, regional and international market competition, enhancing and ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights in Cambodia in accordance with national laws and international standards.
