The agreement was reached by H.E Sok Soken, Minister of Tourism, and H.E Sun Shougang, Deputy Executive Governor of Henan Province of the People's Republic of China at a meeting in Phnom Penh on Monday April 22, 2024.
The purpose of the meeting was to promote cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and the Administration of Henan Province under the Spirit of "Year of Population - Cambodia-China 2024", and "Action Plan for Building a Joint Destiny Community of Cambodia-China in the New Era-2024-2028".
During the meeting, HE Minister Sok Soken highly appreciated the visit of H.E Sun Shougang and expressed his deep gratitude to H.E Sun Shougang for supporting the spirit of "Year of People -Cambodia-China 2024" through the joint organization of "Sao Linh and Bokator Performance at Angkor" on April 24, 2024 at the northern part of Bayon Temple, Siem Reap Province. The two sides hoped that the event would help attract more international tourists, especially Chinese tourists to Siem Reap. The Minister also said that the Royal Government of the seventh mandate under the wise and energetic leadership of Samdach Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, has paid close attention to the development of tourism, which is an important mechanism in promoting the economic development of Cambodia.
H.E Sun Shougang, who is also member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Henan Provincial Committee stated that Cambodia has always supported Chinese policy. The Chinese senior official was committed to supporting the implementation of measures and strategic actions set out in the restoration of Cambodia's tourism sector.
A minutes of the meeting was signed with the main focus on promoting the implementation of the project "Strengthening Cooperation between Cambodia-Henan-ASEAN "Silk Road Airways Project". In the minutes, the two sides agreed to arrange a working team to implement the contents of the minutes to support the tourism development of the two countries.
