The Ministry of Information, in cooperation with the National Authority for Combating Drugs, started drug test on its senior officials and civil servants.
H.E Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, said that the drug test was a campaign join the efforts of the royal government to achieve the commitment of making Cambodia a drug-free country.
H.E Neth Pheaktra continued to say that the drug test in the Ministry of Information followed the order of the Head of the Royal Government, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, who on February 20, 2024 introduced strict measures to combat illegal drugs among civil servants of all the ministries, institutions and sub-national administrations.
The drug test at the Ministry of Information started from May 7 to 8, 2024.
According to the report provided by the National Authority for Combating Drugs, as of April 29, 2024, a number of ministries, institutions and sub-national administrations have already had their officials and members of the armed forces and police tested for drugs and as a result 76 drug addicts were detected and have been removed from their jobs.
