H.E Thor Chetha, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, called on the United State to provide cooperation in the field of meteorology, especially weather forecasting and advance notice to vulnerable people to be prepared in advance to reach reduce natural disasters and economic losses.
The call was made when H.E Thor Chetha met with US Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E Patrick Murphy on March 11, 2024.
H.E Thor Chetha thanked the US Government through the Ambassador for his continued support and development of the Cambodian economy, especially the water resources sector, which is an important part contributing to support the national economic growth.
The Minister informed the US Ambassador about the main role of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, in which an executive body of the Royal Government of Cambodia has two main tasks: water management for water supply in all sectors, agriculture, industry and general use in livelihoods and meteorological forecasting by notifying the weather conditions in advance.
The Minister asked the Ambassador to provide cooperation in the field of meteorology, especially weather forecasting and early warning to vulnerable people to be prepared in advance to reduce natural disasters.
In response, the Ambassador accepted all requests for discussion and reaffirmed the strengthening of friendship and partnership aimed at achieving the cause of peace, stability and development within the framework of its national independence and sovereignty.
