Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training Holds Training Course on Fire Safety in Enterprises

About 200 technical officers from enterprises and factories have been trained on how to protect potential hazards at workplace.

The training course was held on Wednesday March 27 by the 

the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

The participants learned about fire safety and dangers that may be caused by electricity or wielding work.

H.E Pheng Sokham, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said that the training was very important for enterprises, especially for the safety and health team of enterprises, who works directly and participates in inspecting occupational safety conditions in the workplace.

The Secretary of State stressed that the Occupational Safety and Health Working teams also played an important role in the latest mechanism of occupational safety and health management system at the enterprise level and helped to better monitor and prevent fires in the workplace.

To achieve a culture of occupational safety and health prevention and occupational hazards, it is a long-term vision that requires the active participation and commitment of all parties, including employers, workers, occupational safety and health professional’s experts in order to turn occupational safety and health prevention into a habit in daily life, added the Secretary of State.

Mr. Leng Tong, Director of the Department of Occupational Physician stated that in order to prevent and reduce fires in the workplace, employers should carry out fire risk assessment, by taking into account the main causes of the fire, controlling the source of the fire and keeping flammable materials separate. He further said that most importantly, making sure that all preventive and extinguishing equipment and devices were all well ready. 

 

The Director of the Department of Occupational Physician called on all enterprises and factories to prepare evacuation plan and organize training on evacuation procedures and firefighting training for workers on a regular basis. ​
