Preparations have been underway for the sixth meeting between the Prime Minister and journalists

H.E. Neth Pheaktra, Minister of Information, said at a meeting on Monday April 22 with the senior officials of the Ministry to review the preparation process that the meeting between journalists and the head of the Royal Government, which is scheduled to take place on May 3, 2024, coincides with the celebration of World Press Freedom Day.

The Minister further said that the decision to select May 3, 2024 for the meeting between journalists and the head of the Royal Government was made by the Prime Minister.

Every year on January 14,

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister, agreed to take January 14 every year to meet with journalists from both public and private media outlets. During the meeting journalists have the chance of raising issues and their concerns for the head of the Royal Government to find solutions.

The meeting is also a demonstration of participation in promoting freedom of the pressin Cambodia.

The annual meeting between the head of the royal government and journalist started in 2017. The meeting was put on hold in 2021 and 2022 due to the spread of the Covid-19. 

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister Hun Manet has agreed to resume the gathering and set May 3 every year for the meeting.
