At a ceremony held last weekend in the province of Siem Reap to celebrate the 8th river festival, Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, instructed the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, in cooperation with the General Department of Immigration and border authorities, to be ready to welcome Cambodian workers returning from Thailand to visit their hometowns during Khmer new year
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that during his recent visit to Thailand, he had talks with the Prime Minister of Thailand, who has assured him that Thailand would facilitate the return of Cambodian workers during the traditional Khmer new year.
The Cambodian Prime Minister also said that Cambodian traditional dances like Chai Yam performance had to be put on to welcome foreign tourists upon their arrivals at all the international airports of the country. He said that by having traditional art dances to greet foreign arrivals, Cambodia could tell them that it has had rich cultural heritage and dances.
According to the traditional Khmer New Year calendar, the year of dragon will take place from April 13 to 16 2024, lasting 4 days from Sunday to Tuesday.
