The Mine Authority of Cambodia is expecting to get support from friendly countries and development partners for the country to host an international event on mines

H.E Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Mine Authority of Cambodia expressed his expectation at a meeting with H.E Martin Vavra, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Cambodia, on February 26, 2024 at the Mine Authority office.

The two sides exchanged views on the close bilateral relations, friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Senior Minister Ly Thuch spoke of the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia to solve the problem of landmines and explosive remnants of war in Cambodia and the introduction of the vision of the Prime Minister to move towards a Mine-free Cambodia by 2025.

The Senior Minister also mentioned the chairmanship and hosting of the Siem Reap-Angkor Meeting on a Mine-Free World of the Ottawa Convention 2024, in which Cambodia welcomes and needs the support of development partners and all stakeholders to make this meeting a success.

The Ambassador expressed his congratulations on Cambodia's progress as well as achievements for the mine action sector in Cambodia.

Regarding the organization of the Siem Reap-Angkor Summit, H.E Martin Vavra assured the Senior Minister that he would take Cambodia's request to the Government of the Czech Republic for review and consideration.
