The Minister of Interior urges authorities at all levels to take strict measures to prevent road accidents during the celebration of the Khmer New Year

H.E. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the National Committee for Road Safety, issued an appeal to all authorities and members of the public to take precautions to avoid roadaccidents on the occasion of the traditional Khmer New Year from, which starts from April 13 to 16, 2024.

The Minister also expressed his sincere gratitude to the vast majority of road users for joining in the implementation of the Road Traffic Law and contributing to reducing the loss of life, injuries and property damage caused by road accidents.

However, it has been noted that road accidents were on the rise at festival events, resulting in maximum casualties and property damage, added the Minister.

The Minister said that most of the road accidents resulted from the   violation of the law or negligence. 

The Minister of Interior reiterated his appeal to all road users to adhere to the law on land traffic to protect their own lives private and state property and to jointly promote the honor and dignity of the nation.

The Minister hoped that all road users would participate in the implementation of the Road Traffic Law with a high sense of responsibility to ensure security, social order and happiness on the occasion of the upcoming Khmer New Year Celebration.
