H.E Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, and Ms. Go Kerleang de Palier Leakena, Managing Director of the Organization for the Smile of Children , agreed to promote vocational trainings for Cambodian youths to gain specific skills for the job market during a meeting , on February 23, 2024.
The Labor Minister briefed the guests of the vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia related to training vocational skills to young people to have professional technical skills to serve the needs from the private sector. The Minister also stressed the flexibility and vibrancy of the technical trainings that the Ministry has launched at present, which have been the careful consideration of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The Managing Director of the Organization for the Smile of Children informed the Minister about the organization's priority action plan for vocational technical training and said that so far the organization has trained about 1,500 trainees on mechanics, construction, film production and hotel hospitality.
The Managing Director added that the organization's master plan for the next five years also focuses on vocational training.
The two sides agreed to promote more vocational trainings for young people to have specific skills to become active workers in Cambodia's economic production chain.
