The National Assemblies of Cambodia and Laos wished that the governments of the two countries completed the demarcation of the border as soon as possible.

The legislature bodies of the two countries made the wish during a meeting between His Excellency Dr. Cheam Yeap, First Vice President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, and His Excellency KhamchanhSotapaserth, Member of the Standing Committee of the Lao National Assembly, at the National Assembly office in Phnom Penh on February 26. 

The Lao side stated that the mission of the Lao National Assembly delegation to Cambodia was to strengthen friendship, solidarity and cooperation in all fields between Cambodia and Laos, especially between the Lao and Cambodian legislatures. 

The Joint Boundary Commission of Cambodia and Laos met 188 times from 1995 to 2009, achieving about 86 percent of the border demarcation, equivalent to 465 kilometers of the common border. 

The two countries' border demarcation treaty records the acceptance of 86 percent of the joint border inspection results signed by the two heads of government on February 13, 2023 in Vientiane, Laos.
