The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, presided over the second "National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation".
"National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation" was initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, with the setting of March 26 as the day for its observation every year.
The first "National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation" was held in 2023 under the presidency of Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Royal government of Cambodia has considered the field of science, technology and innovation as a strategic tool to achieve the vision of Cambodia to become an upper middle income country by 2030 and high income one by 2050. H.E Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, said that for this year's National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry has chosen the theme "Small and Medium Enterprises Towards Science, Technology and Innovation" in order to boost the productivity of private enterprises through incorporating technology into the production line to increase efficiency and added value.
The Minister also said that the three-day National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation has four main objectives - cultivating love and understanding of science through direct experiments, promoting the cooperation of stakeholders in the national innovation system to capture the potential of science, technology and innovation, promoting a deeper understanding of the role of science, technology and innovation among policy makers and the private sector; and maintaining science, technology and innovation to boost productivity and progress for small and medium enterprises.
