The Royal Government of the seventh mandate has continued to protect natural resources with the continued introduction and implementation of several policies and measures

On a field trip on Sunday, March 24, 2024,  to inspect the results of the project implantation by 5 investment companies located in  the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary in Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, H.E Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, said that the reforestation has been the top priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which has required the Ministry of Environment and relevant institutions and authorities at all levels to strictly work on the management of natural resources throughout the country.

The Ministry of Environment is currently preparing to plant more than 1 million trees from 2024 and onwards. 

The Provincial Departments of Agriculture, Foresrty and Fisheries have so far planted more than 700,000 seedlings. The cultivation of trees has been launched among local people, in school, pagoda and community. HE Dr. Eang Sophalleth also donated more than 300,000 palm seedlings for the free distribution campaign.

According to the Minister, the investment companies, which did not comply with the agreement with the Royal Government, have had their licenses revoked and relevant departments have worked with local authorities to begin reforestation in order to increase forest cover by 60% in 2050.

During visit to the protected area, the Minister of Environment requested   people to plant more tress and continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Environment and the competent authorities to suppress and prevent natural resource crimes.
