Three more provinces in Cambodia have been declared mine-free

A meeting was held in Kratie Krung, Kratieprovince on Tuesday March 26, 2024 to declare Kratie province mine-free in the presence of Samdech Men Sam An, Member of the Supreme Privy Council to the King.

Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Mines Authority, said at the meeting that the provinces of Kampong Speu, Mondulkiri and Kratie have been added on the list of mine-free province.

The Senior Minister further said that Kratieprovince was the 15th mine-free province in the kingdom. 

The Senior Minister stressed that the result came from the leadership and attention of the Royal Government of Cambodia of all the mandates. He said that the result was also attributed to the efforts made by officers of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority and the financial assistance from the Mine Action Fund initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, and from the financial contribution of development partners and generous people. 

The First Vice President of the Mine Action Authority further said that the result would not be made possible but for the fact that Cambodia has continued to enjoy full peace and development under the royal government of the previous mandates and the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister, Samdech ThipadeiHun Manet.

The Senior Minister expressed his gratitude to the donor community, the development partners, the private sector and other charitable groups for     supporting and continuing to stand with Cambodia in order to get Cambodia eliminate the people’s suffering from the legacy of war.

Senior Minister Ly Thuch also expressed his deep gratitude to H.E. Va Thorn, Governor of KratieProvince and authorities at all levels for their excellent cooperation in demining operations in Kratie Province.
