Cambodia currently has two railways, Phnom Penh-Poipet and Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville. The railway network is managed by the Royal Railway, a subsidiary of the Royal Group, owned by Oknha Kith Meng. The government plans to upgrade the existing railway to a high-speed railway.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has studied the project to upgrade the northern Phnom Penh-Poipet railway to be the first high-speed railway in Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Public Works, the 382-kilometer high-speed railway project will require an investment of more than 4 billion US dollars.
