The Chinese President expressed China’ssupport for development in Cambodia, especially the Funan Techo Canal project.

The support was made when the Chinese president, His Excellency Xi Jinping, met with Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Peace Palace.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen considered President Xi Jinping a special guest for 2025, saying that the Chinese President’s visit has been of great significance, especially at a time when the world has been in a situation gradually moving towards a trade war. Samdech Techo stressed that the presence of President Xi Jinping in Cambodia has demonstrated the strong traditional friendship and the iron-clad friendship.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stressed that 2025 has been the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-China relations as a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also said that His excellency Xi Jinping has been an old friend, the greatest and most trusted friend of Cambodia, a strong supporter of Cambodia and the Cambodian People’s Party, which has been in power for the past 46 years.

For his part, the President Xi Jinping expressed his joy at returning to Cambodia, especially meeting with Samdech Techo Hun Sen. He said that he was very impressed by the hospitality provided by the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Cambodian people.
