Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet: The deployment of Agricultural technical officers to provinces, districts and communes is to help farmers

The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, said that agricultural officials sent by the government to the provinces and down to districts and communes was to held the farmers.

The Cambodian leader made the statement when he and his spouse held a get-together with Cambodians overseas living in Australia and New Zealand on Sunday March 3, 2024.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet ​further said the deployment of agricultural technical officers in all communes was to assist farmers that need new techniques to improve their farm production. 

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stressed that in rural areas in provinces, farmers have to grow crops to supply tourism rather than importing vegetables and this has been the government policy.

Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister also added that the government has recruited 250 agricultural technical officers in 87 districts and planned to recruit another 800 for 800 communes in the second phase in April 2024. 

The Cambodian leader told Cambodians overseas in Australia and New Zealand that the 2023 Commune agriculture officer strategy has been an achievement of the vision of the Royal Government of the 7th legislature in boosting agricultural production as it has been one of the main components in economic development of Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his spouse have been in Melbourne, Australia from March 1 to 5 for a special summit to celebrate the 50 years of cooperation between Australia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
