Switzerland continues to support decentralization reform in Cambodia

The Swiss government would continue to support the Royal Government of Cambodia in the work of decentralization reform and training and capacity building projects for professional officials of the Ministry of Interior.

The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, His Excellency Alexander Fasel expressed this support in a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia, H.E Sar Sokha in Bern city, Swiss Confederation, on Tuesday April 23, 2024. 

In the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia proposed the government of Switzerland to support the decentralization reform process in Cambodia and capacity building projects; especially for those involved in technology crimes, money laundering and cyber security; Decentralization in Cambodia.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the government and people of the Swiss Confederation for their support to Cambodia in various fields, including the work of decentralization and de-concentration reform.

His Excellency Sar Sokha also informed the Swiss side that the purpose of the visit to the Swiss Confederation and the Federal Republic of Germany was to gain more experience on management systems and good practices in promoting the process of decentralization and de-concentration reforms and the promotion of local governance in Cambodia.

H.E Alexandre Fasel welcomed the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha and the Cambodian delegation to Switzerland.
