The Cambodian Ministry of Information and the Indian Embassy have concluded a memorandum of understanding on India’s grant for two projects.
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Phnom Penh on Monday March 24, 2025 by the Minister of Information, His Excellency Neth Pheaktra and Ambassador of India to Cambodia, H.E Vanlalvawna BAWITLUNG.
His Excellency Neth Pheaktra said that the two projects that have been supported by the Indian government’s grant aid would be implemented in the northeastern province of Kratie. The Minister said that the first project focused on solar energy in O'Kreang Senchey district, and the second project supporting communities in promoting education by providing bicycles to students in Snuol district. His Excellency Neth Pheaktra further said that in 2024, the Ministry of Information also implemented two projects under the grant aid from the Indina government, with the first projects focusing on equipment for digitizing photographs at the Cambodia News Agency and the second on the establishment of an IT center in Koh Sotin district, Kampong Cham province. The Information Minister further said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Embassy of India and the Ministry of Information has been another important milestone in the continued support of the Government of India for the Ministry of Information to help strengthening joint efforts to address challenges faced by local communities.
The Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of India for its valuable support in establishing the National Digital Archive Center and the Community Telecommunication Centers. The initiatives have not only provided well-equipped centers for storing media materials and archives, but have also played a significant role in promoting digital literacy and increasing access to information at the community level, stressed the Minister.
The memorandum of Understanding was reached within the framework of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Project.
