Cambodia, Japan to boost cooperation between small and medium enterprises of the two countries, focusing on niche markets

On April 6, 2024, H.E Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, received a Japanese business delegation, led by Mr. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA).

Mr. Takahashi Fumiaki reaffirmed the commitment of the Japan-Cambodia Association to further deepen the business relationship between the two countries. With the recent opening of the association's office, the Minister stressed the potential for facilitating direct relations and cooperation between Japanese and Cambodian entrepreneurs, rather than relying on diplomatic relations.

The Japan-Cambodia Association opened its office in Cambodia on April 1, 2024. This positive development is expected to foster closer ties between Japanese SMEs and their Cambodian counterparts to promote inclusive growth and (niche market) production to serve both ASEAN and international markets.

H.E Hem Vandy said that the presence of the association in Cambodia is important and Cambodia will use the association's office to learn about Japanese innovation and seek cooperation to serve both the domestic market and for export.

The Minister highlighted the new potential in Cambodia's small and medium enterprise ecosystem and the Ministry's commitment to improving public services, especially national quality infrastructure, to better support businesses.
