Meeting of the Political Committee of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Discusses and Agrees on Five Draft Resolutions

On the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Political Committee on the morning of November 22, 2022 met to discuss the draft resolution on peace promotion, Solidarity and Multilateralism Towards ASEAN Centrality.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the eight AIPA member states: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The meeting was chaired by H.E Hun Many, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Chairman of the Political Committee of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and joined by H.E Sous Yara, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Cambodian Parliament. 

The Political Committee Meeting aims to strengthen the AIPA-ASEAN Dialogue and the Partnership in Resolving Common Challenges and Working Together to Strengthen the ASEAN Center for Peace, Prosperity and International Order in accordance with International Law and Multilateralism.

The meeting discussed five draft resolutions, they are:

First: Draft Decision on "Report of the 13th AIPA Caucus"

Second: Draft Resolution on "Report of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summit and ASEAN Leaders Meeting" (Report of the ASEAN-AIPA Leader's Interface during the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits)

Third: Draft Resolution on "Promoting Peace, Prosperity and Multilateralism through ASEAN Centrality" (Promoting Peace, Solidarity and Multilateralism through ASEAN Centrality)

Fourth: Draft Decision on "Enhancing Parliamentary Diplomacy on Maritime Security and Forster Regional Stability in Southeast Asia"

And Fifth: Draft Decision on "Using Parliamentary Diplomacy to Implement the Five-Point Consensus" (Parliamentary Diplomacy for the Implementation for the Five-Point Consensus).
