A number of facilities in the National Defense University has officially been put into use at an inauguration ceremony under the auspicious of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet

A number of facilities in the National Defense University has officially been put into use at an inauguration ceremony held on Friday April 19 under the auspicious of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of ambodia.

The co-educational building and some other facilities have been donated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate and his spouse Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen. The construction of the facilities began on October 4, 2020 and was completed on June 5th 2023.

The National Defense University is a higher education institution of the Ministry of National Defense, where trainees study security analysis, assesses threats to national security, national defense policy, border protection, national security, military reform, participation in the field of national defense and security, military science, social science and foreign languages for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

The National Defense University is responsible for training senior officers, officers, professional officers and specialized officers to become competent and qualified officers of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to do research, analysis and evaluation of the implementation of strategy measures, defense policy, and performance of duties as an officer, commander, and chief of staff.The trainings of the armed forces have been a priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia since the liberation of the country from the regime of the Khmer Rouge on January 7, 1979, with the aims to increase the capability of the territorial defense forces.

In April 1997, Samdech Techo Hun Sen changed the name of the school to the Military Academy of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. In 2001, it was renamed the Cambodian Military Institute and in November 2006, the institute was renamed and upgraded to a "National Defense University" under the Ministry of National Defense.
