The Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that the Angkor Sangkranti event is not only an occasion for the Khmer New Year, but also has become a driving force for all forms of tourism.

The remarks were made when he presided overthe official opening ceremony of the “Angkor Sangkranta 2025” event in Siem Reap Province on April 14, 2025, in Siem Reap Province.

The Cambodian Prime Minister expressed his pride and joy for the success of the Angkor Sangkranta event, which has led to progress in Siem Reap Province and the national economy.

The Cambodian Prime Minister highlighted that Angkor Sangkranta has become a major part in promoting progress in Siem Reap and the national economy. While tourism has increased steadily from 180,000 in 2013 to 2.1 million in 2023.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed confidence that the number of tourists to Siem Reap during the New Year in 2025 will increase further because Cambodian citizens and international tourists all want to join in the fun and enjoy the atmosphere set in the long-standing historical region of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
